I just love how I can pull moments from the movies while reading. Gives me a richer experience and a better context especially with all the terminologies being thrown around immediately. So far book is really good. The world building and the politics around it are exciting. I hope to finish at least the first three of the Dune book franchise before Villeneuve’s Dune 3 comes out!!!

Karl Ocampo is reading The Long Walk
Reading this for our book club with the theme Horror. I really wanted to read something that is 1) not about ghosts and is 2) not written by Stephen King. Turns out Richard Bachman IS Stephen King. I guess you cannot escape the man when you talk about Horror lit. Hope it's good since it's my first time reading horror!

Actually surprised by how much I enjoyed this. I also really appreciate the appendix - from how to appreciate art to the timeline of movements and artists.

It’s so wild to me that despite the events documented about DPRK the rest of the world’s decision makers seem to had a tacit agreement not to intervene. They are probably all Aquariuses.

My boyfriend told me I should learn how to cook (he cooks for me a lot and I haven’t cooked anything for him). Hoping this book interests me enough that I’ll finally be into cooking (also a way to procrastinate the actual need for me to cook).

All I can think of is how much of the book has been diluted in the series. I love the series so much that I decided to read the book but damn the book is way way better. Toranaga is much more cunning, Gyoko more instrumental in the scheme of things, and Anjin-san’s depiction more colorful. Can’t wait to finish the book.

Karl Ocampo is finished with The Kingdom and the Power: Behind the Scenes at The New York Times: The Institution That Influences the World
I don't know what I was expecting, but it's so revealing to learn that all newsrooms are the same – even that of The New York Times. Their reporters have the same woes as my colleagues and me, editors and publishers are engaged in the same political power play, etc. I guess the difference is how each institution deals with these problems. Clearly, NYT is both proud and humble enough to rise above these struggles.

Just finished reading Bolisay's review of Norte. Wow. This guy is so good it's almost depressing. I'm guilty of invoking Dostoevsky in my own review (ish) and he was spot on with everything he said about that. Thanks for the education. This book is already amazing and I'm just two or three reviews in.

Also, agree with Ang Nawawala hahahahaha
