Excellent. Frightening. Taught me a lot I didn't know about the particulars of slavery. So very well-written. And written 161 years ago by one who actually suffered some of the worst that "peculiar institution" had to give.

I finished this several days ago. Don't know why the update didn't take.

I've finished reading The Devil in the White City. Quite a tale! A serial killer is loose during the Chicago World's Fair in 1893! Weaving those two stories together was quite interesting and I learned a lot about things that were introduced to the world at that fair (Shredded Wheat, the Ferris wheel, etc.) and how this real true life killer stalked and murdered a ton of people and not a word got out about it until..

Just about done! Will finish tonight.

I'm closing in on 50% done. I'd like to read it faster, but too much going on! No time.

I'm giving up on reading any book right now. I've got my hands full of other things and will have to come back to this one.

I'm trying to catch up on my magazines, like Smithsonian & National Geo, after reading three excellent books in the last six weeks.
