What a contrast with dreary Who You Think I Am. Cute, fun.

Not sure I can finish this book. I can see where it’s headed. Meh. Navel gazing.

Not a very good translation: “the whole shebang”? “No great shakes”? Who talks like this? Is this a British translator trying to sound American? Whew.

Reread this and liked it even more. Still, Leon’s tendency to use her fiction for grinding various axes is notable—especially the more one reads her. Then again, why not use one’s work as a soapbox? Sometimes I find this aspect of her stories tiresome, and quit reading, that’s why.

A book club choice; our group is very diverse in its choices. I simply couldn’t read this book and returned it to Kindle after skimming. No way would I spend 5+ hours on this rubbish. So, time to try to be tactful to the rest of the group when I give my opinion! And listening to why others like what I don’t is often interesting.
