Well she has made two decisions now that I don’t think we’re stupid. So. There’s that.

Does the main character ever make a good decisions? Like, ever?

‘No one else can find this out, especially not the people who have been trying to figure it out and know what insights I’ve made towards trying to figure it out! I’ll write it down!’

The main character has scoliosis, which is kind of cool. I don’t think I’ve really seen it in a fantasy novel much before. Especially regarding a main character.

It didn’t occur to me while reading the first book just how excellent the representation is, because all of it came across very naturally and in an entirely unforced way. So far, that has only gotten better in book 2, which is excellent!

“What happened, bambina?”

I buried my face in her shoulder … Hugging Nonna made everything real. ...

“Your worst fears.”

While I’m not opposed to dramatics, this book has so far failed to hook me and that last line specifically felt like…well, a dramatically composed line in a book, instead of a natural reaction to the situation. It’s not necessarily wrong, but it feels misplaced.

I've barely started and already there seems to be an abundance of vocabulary I'll need to remember...

no matter how hard I try, I can't prevent myself from reading IT, which the author uses as the dragon's pronoun (capitalization included), with internal emphasis that really disrupts the flow of the book and makes me irrationally angry.

Very...quirky.

Really wish that this part of the book wasn't fast-forwarding through weeks.

This lady is doing an awful lot of talking for someone with damaged vocal cords.

That cannot be the ONLY poison with those symptoms.

And of course, we have to reference earth because we can't possibly set this world where people can enter the minds of others in a totally fictional universe.

Grrr, here we go with the way too soon declarations of love. At least there's no love triangle. But Dane is waaaaay too young to be smoothly talking about love to a girl he hardly knows. While book just took a sharp drop in my opinion.

Ooookaaaay...not the twist I was expecting (but I'm not ruling out what I think will happen yet.). Hmm. Don't know how I feel about this.

Tiny nitpick- what makes Meira qualified to judge poetry? I hardly think she would have been exposed to much, and people who haven't really read any would be more likely to be confused, I think.

(But that aside, all things have been going well, and I am still enjoying the book!)

I think I know what the twist is going to be, but we will see. Also Meira should have way more trouble wearing her first ballgown. And also...I think I see a love triangle looming :/

liking this book so far! the beginning was a little rocky, but I've really warmed up to it! I like that the protagonist isn't oozing with specialness or beauty or anything.

That was the stupidest oracle prediction prophecy thing to ever be written.

I loathe the fact that Needles and Nettle are so similar. Please choose more distinct names!

"An oracles message remained cryptic until it was understood." ..... That's like saying 'the sky remained blue until it wasn't blue.' HOW USELESS IS THAT LINE? HUH?
