To celebrate (?) Banned Book Week, going to focus on banned or challenged books. This is tied for 7th on this week’s ALA.regular of challenged books.

No judgement. Trying to reach my reading goals for the year.

Maybe it’s because there are so many funnier, sharper books of this ilk that are written by actual women, but this fell flat. Maybe it’s because so much has changed since it was written.

I was so caught up in the characters that I didn’t try to solve it. I gasp at the first reveal. A super fun read. Rounding up 3.5 for the Latin throwback.

I’m listening to the audiobook and have already had to pause it more than once to replay key points. This one on voter suppression: “To suppress the vote is to make a mockery of democracy and those who do so are essentially acknowledging that their policies aren’t popular. If you can’t convince a majority of voters that your ideas are worthy, you try to limit the pool of voters.”

Reading for a weekly book club so slow going. Otherwise I’d be done. Full of good content yet very accessible.

Don’t judge me for another royalty book. It’s 2020 and we’re all just trying to get through the year.
