Ugh. I was asked to read this book by so
wine important to me. After reading the first few pages, it’s clear this book is based on a false premise about CRT, which the author mislabels as an “assumption” CRT makes. I’ll continue reading, but I’m not hopeful.

In the introduction Glaude claims “Begin Again” does not fit into a specific genre. This is true. The book juxtaposes the experiences Glaude has lived as a black man in a sort of ethnographic study of the life and works of James Baldwin to examine both the past and present moments of racial strife in our country. I’m finding the book thought provoking and inspiring in that it makes me want to read more Baldwin.
