There are at least 117 layers of implausibility to this plot, but how much they love each is so wonderful.

This plot hinges on a million implausible events, but their romance is sweet.

The language and imagery is really beautiful, like literary fiction. But the slow burn is actually slower than a glacier.

I should have read more synopses before starting this book. I think it is going to be a court room drama, which is disappointing.

I started to be genuinely curious about the main character when I decided to look at her through the lens of Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (a different illness from what we typically see portrayed as OCD).

This is my first Strout novel, and I'm underwhelmed. I know she's very popular and has had a long career. Hoping to finish this today. The story is unfolding slowly and is getting more complex and interesting, so I'm not giving up.

I feel like I am watching a car careening into what will be a massive wreck - all in slow motion. Flawed characters, one sympathetically so.
