Nursing in liepzig. It's 15 April 1945. The German citizens don't seem to trust the Americans since the Germans consider the allies as the one who killed Germans' young soldiers at war.

The helpful family has ORIGINAL paintings, a vanDeMeers and a Poussin, in their German home. Somethings up with these two. The friend group goes out dancing to Edith Piaf in 1941.

I'm gonna bet that the supposed "kind" doctor who loves his fatherland helped the group of girls because they're all blond haired!! If not, such a twist would be excellent and creepy. Hand maids, much?

I'll get through this one. A group of girls have been sexually examined in their school in the very classroom where they hold class. Unknown German doctors make them strip down them give them a pelvic exam on the classroom table with rudimentary stirrups. They seem to be checking for virginity status. Ummmm. Ohhhhkay. Then, like nothing happened, the girls are put into a truck 🚚 and driven off.

This work is about the lebenborn, the German Ww2 operation started by Heinrich Himmler to create the ideal Aryan: blond-haired, blue-eyed Germans.
According to Wikipedia, some of the girls used for the project were abducted in order to commence Himmler's plan. This is the story of one of the abducted girls. This work is historical fiction.

My mom loves Peter Pan and sometimes quotes it. Since I don't know the story of Peter Pan, I never read it, nor ever wanted to. But, since several people I know quoth the Peter Pan, I thought to give it a read. The story is nothing like the movie Hook with the wonderful Robin Williams and Dusty Hoffman. 🙉

The king is dead. John Canti has to don kingly regalía but he's doing it wrong. So the wrong becomes the new right. He's the King, after all. And by using common sense in lieu of magic or hearsay, he appears wise king. He frees witches from hanging and robbers from punishment.

I'm revisiting old friends. Reading their letters. The reader for Mme de Merteuil is great. Valmont is devilish.

I listen to this one every Sunday when I travel to visit mom. Highway driving is the perfect occasion to push play and let the characters and storytelling come to life. It's quiet. It's just me in the car. I can listen to what I WANT. It's a slow process this book. To be honest, I can't envision the people or the places. There's lots and lots and lots of dialogue. By whom? I dunno. But I continue.
