Sarah can be fatuous and annoying, but everything she experienced I have seen at companies I worked for. This story is framed as just Facebook, but it represents the dynamics of most successful companies. Corporations are at best amoral, gleefully seizing any loophole that they can exploit.

Entertaining as a horrifying look at the billionaire reality. Free floating without any moral point. Call me a libtard, but I still think we’re here to help as best we can. No such constraints limit the options of billionaires. Everyone tells you how great you are! The sky is the limit, wait not even that!

Every interaction is dragged out with thoughts replayed, avoiding the truth, don’t even think about asking directly, endless stupid questions….

Mercy is seriously getting on my nerves. It’s really all about her which is understandable at first, but it wears thin quickly.

Listening to audio. Good distraction but…. Any army that allows cadets to kill each other must have too many recruits. As if! Sure, killer cadets - what could go wrong? Save time and kill them before the enemy does. Sigh. Also tests that kill rather than simply fail. A little wasteful IMHO. And then our heroine who is not strong and doesn’t want to be a dragon rider. But she’s not worried.

Heather Cox Richardson does the due diligence of separating political claims from reality. That gap has widened considerably since the election of Trump. Painful but informative for those who support representative democracy.

DNF for two reasons. I have always wondered why I so strongly prefer historical fiction. It’s the manners of the men with women. So with this story, those stilted manners are gone and I found that I missed them! Who knew? I can handle stories with ‘mature’ subjects after all. It’s those artificially constrained manners that make me relax. There is also no reason to care about Rosie other than poverty.

Mmm. The problem is that I feel the same as the dreadful Duke. Felicity just gets on my nerves. Really she is such a child. Perhaps it’s because she reminds me of my mother, continually incompetent.

The fact that everyone is trying to delay Bea’s marriage isn’t so bad, but the fact that she’s likely to allow it has me frustrated. Sigh.

Surprisingly (to me) thoughtful story set during the French Revolution. The book’s goal is clearly a swashbuckling tale of adventure. The main character is a bastard who was fortunately adopted by a sort of squire, a man of the land but also important politically.
