Erin is starting White Rural Rage: The Threat to American Democracy
Me, reading this book: “I’m tired of this, grandpa!”

American politics: “Well that’s too damn bad!”

Erin is starting The Mystery Guest (Molly the Maid, #2)
Correction: I have just learned that Nita Prose is Canadian, so, this book could conceivably be taking place in Canada. I have no idea how public education works in Canada, but LORD HAVE MERCY I hope it doesn't work like it does in the flashback scene in this book.

Y'all. The flashback with Gran and Molly's teacher, in which the teacher berates a CLEARLY autistic 8-year-old for being "different," threatens to hold her back a year, AND insists that such children have no place in public schools, put me in a STATE.

THAT'S NOT HOW PUBLIC EDUCATION WORKS. Lord, I am SALTY about the gross misrepresentation.

English teachers: Don't you dare.

Look, you can dare. But if you are willing to teach a 720-page book with the word "Dick" in the title to any class that contains teenage boys, well... all I can say is, "God be with ye, sailor."

Girls, don’t get you a man who looks at you the way Mr. Darcy looks at Elizabeth Bennet. Get you a man who writes about you the way Stephen King writes about Tabitha Spruce King.

Erin is finished with The Villa
Some of the twists at the end gave me whiplash, but in a fun way.

Okay so. Um. Confession time:
I am a high school librarian and have been for ten years and I have never finished this book.
It's time.

LIBRARY PRIESTESSES: We’ve all been brutalized by men. Some of us have been maimed — broken hands, tongues ripped out…
NESTA: Oh yeah? One time some dudes shoved me in a magical bathtub and I came out prettier, stronger, and immortal
PRIESTESSES: ….
NESTA: It also gave me superpowers
PRIESTESSES:…
NESTA: I’m still mad about it

I have not made up my mind about this one yet and feel it may be a bit of an acquired taste — like coffee or seaweed.
So, I’m going to read the rest of the series.

After the righteous rage of Dopesick (and its soul-crushing epilogue), I decided I deserved a good ol’ fashioned bodice ripper.
