I'm just struggling with this book. I enjoyed the first half but the second half, set in the mysterious and grim world is a slogfest for me. :(

Really enjoying @leslyepenelope’s novel. Engaging protagonists, beautifully crafted sense of time and place.

Although the concept is creative, I’m just having so much trouble with killing of the dragons, who are fought in a similar (and brutal) fashion to bullfighting (with dragonadors instead of matadors). The dragons wings are bound in order to make them easier to kill and we get descriptions of the butchering of dead dragons. For this lover of Anne McCaffrey’s dragons of Pern, it’s tough going.

I never cease to be amazed by @sarahbethdurst’s world building and fabulous female characters.

.@zeynjoukhadar’s writing is just magical in his second novel as in his first. Truly luminous.

I have to say that this is a lot more gripping than I thought it would be.

The second person narration was a big adjustment. Moira Quick’s narration on the audio is splendid as ever, and sort of smooths the oddness, somehow.

The audiobook, narrated by Moira Quick, is terrific.

This novel is beautifully crafted.

I just love this author's voice. He captures so much of how vulnerable people can be.
