Something about the voice this author uses really resonates with me. The prose is direct and honest. Uncluttered, un-pretentious.

Orhan, the main character from whose perspective we experience the world, is blunt about the way of things to the point of almost sarcasm. Yet this tone comes off as simply honest and real, rather than feeling obnoxious.

I must confess I'm loving this one so far. Massive bonus points for opening with a flipping Lordi quote of all things!

Only downside is that some of the sentences get a little carried away with endless references to many different things with scant punctuation throughout. Perhaps if my pop-culture knowledge were broader more of it would land.

That said, the premise is a riot as is the execution. Great silly fun!

DNF'ing this one. I'm not sure why, but the narrative just failed to gain purchase for me after a while.

This book is an unadulterated joy. I find myself stupidly grinning at the rate of something like once per page.

Going to DNF this one for now. I know it comes highly recommended, but I'm just not getting into it for some reason. I take this as a fault of my own and not one of the author or her work.

I have to admit that I fell in love with Le Guin's prose straight away. It feels like every word is a pebble tossed into a lake, a small movement that creates an expanding ripple of richness and detail.

.....OK, that metaphor might be insufferable. It's simply the first one that came to mind for whatever reason.
