Struggling to get through it. The editing really could be better. But action has finally picked up. Close to the end, though!

…then I’ve only got three more books to get through. 😅

It’s not bad but the world building is confusing. I can’t get a sense of what kind of world it is. At times it seems like typical medieval fantasy world, but then it’s traveling by horses and carriages and wagons, yet things like working plumbing/showers exist. There are cloaks and leather pants and fantasy garb, but also military boots and running shoes. It’s off-putting!

It’s a good story so far. The author is a good writer. However, I’m only 7 chapters in and I’ve seen numerous typos. And in one chapter, the youngest brother is seven, and one or two chapters later, it says he’s eight. Book could stand some better editing, TBH.

What a wonderful story so far. I like Aia. She’s got spunk.

Not sure. Plot seems a little contrived to me. If Luna is SO important to the alliance, then why the hell would the queen threaten to kill her and risk losing it? Makes no sense. Luna should be the safest human in the place if she’s so critical to preventing whatever it is the queen expects to happen.

Someone just got stabbed. FMC suspects one of the princesses. I suspect the king’s sister.
I think the story doesn’t make much sense. It isn’t explained clearly why the king must hold these trials other than “tradition”. If he only needs a temporary queen to restore magic, why not just choose a temporary queen to restore magic? And needing one only a few months to fully restore it seems a little contrived.

Zara just met Rali. I do not trust him. I think his men are the ones who burned her home. Convenient that they happened to be there when Zara and her monster arrived. And either he is only pretending to be Rali to lure her into a false sense of trust, or he IS Rali and pretending to love her for the same reason. I’m not so sure the Sisters are on the right side, either. There’s more than meets the eye here.
