Taking a break for a Libby-read, but wow. I did not expect at all for this book to be this engaging and captivating. Highly recommend the audio, makes great listening when driving I found. Spent most of a 12h drive listening to this, and it didn't even occur to me to change to music because I couldn't stop listening.

Hoooooly wow chapter 6 was intense

This is so addictive

I am so friggin close to the end and I am VERY SAD ABOUT IT

I have come to a point in this book where I'm dreading its end and procrastinating from reading. And every other page I mark quotes because everything is just so beautiful and meaningful when we have arrived at the height of world building and character building, and building towards the very last big bang. Gah, I'm trembling with anticipation!!

Jfc I LOVE THIS TRILOGY SO MUCH I AM CRYIIIING

This book does not glorify motherhood or children in any way. SUCH a breath of fresh air with real, flawed children and parents.

WHAT A BOOK!! 10/10 I have been reading as if possessed, hungry for more and more. I am so excited for the next and what it possibly could bring!

Hobb is so ruthless. Of course we have to follow the rules of rank and court and stuff! We can't go off and rebel our way to convenient things like killing off the problems! Hobb doesn't joke about things like this, and while it is TORTURE I love her for it all the same. Being the rebel and defying all orders is a convenient way to solve plot problems but it's not realistic if your character has honor and loyalty!

The amount on anxiety I feel for all my beloved characters while reading this is maddening!!! Have mercy T.T

While Apprentice is where you work your way to learn about this world with tedious but satisfying effort, Royal Assassin is where you really get to enjoy the world at its fullest. I'm only on chapter 13, but so far the reading experience has been pure bliss and torture from the growing tension of whatever is about to come. Hobb writes with such flow and elegance, I didn't know I missed it this much!

Narrator sometimes sounds like Karl Urban 10/10

This is a slow burner but I'm not struggling! I keep being intrigued by the smallest things and my interest in those details is beginning to really pay off towards the end here. Certainly a build-up book for the series
