This author clearly has something against contractions

This author definitely has a grudge against the word "that". For example:

"Such would put a strain on our resources," Seth said.

"She used his environmentally friendly dishwashing soap to clean the carrots" lmao what???? Using soap to wash carrots?? What a weirdo, environmentally friendly soap or no

One of the most surreal parts of books with these tropes is the lack of "the boss is not your friend," and it's increasingly strange the older I get. I guess that's what they mean by "suspend your disbelief"

Started reading this and all I can think about is the tik tok where the girl buys every NFL team in the league with a billionaire' money. Tbh this starts out reading a lot like pro-income inequality propaganda

???? No one is responsible for someone else's emotions or actions. This whole book has been full of bad plotting, toxic relationships and suffocating masculinity, but this is just plain ridiculous.
