However bad my day may be, my heart is gladdened when I remember: I am not in Marine Boot Camp.

I know, I know,..Anne Taylor writes amusing, shallow, predictable novels, of which this is the latest. Pleasant but not profound. Plodding, in fact, in places.
I loved every minute of it. Perhaps because I listened to not read it, and the actress had the voices just right;Bunny's was a little masterpiece. Whatever. I was sick while I listened to it, and it was pure comfort.

This photographer took photos of every single person in the small town of Oxford, Iowa, then repeated the process at a 20 year interval. The book consists of the photos, and some thoughts from the person depicted. Once I got used to the fact that this was happening in Iowa, not Mississippi, as I'd assumed, I was able to enjoy the book.
Can't help thinking I could have done the write-ups better myself, though.

This woman really was victimized as a 12 year old. I'm sure she wishes she could somehow get (further) past it . So did this reader--several times throughout the course of this not-long yet prolonged essay on body shame.

Very moving. Well-researched and accessible, good balance between historical data and more personal narratives. My only caveat: it doesn't make you feel all warm and glowing about big business .
