Oh my god the plot finally started. Otherwise this is a book about a magical lesbian couple communicating like they've read every book by John Gottman before treasonously shacking up together to start a bookstore.

I want to be clear that I'm really enjoying many aspects of this book. We do NOT have enough books about mystery and magic in ancient Egypt. But the protagonist is KILLING me. Girl, either you're adventuring, grieving or flirting. But pick a damn lane. It's like every five minutes you have to be reminded her parents are dead, her throat is closing up from grief, oh wait hot guy touched her arm, oh wait Egypt. Yikes.

1.) if you’ve got broad shoulders and you’re pissed off, fold your arms!
2.) if you’ve got skinny shoulders and you’re pissed off fold your arms!
3.) if you’re pissed off and you know it you can tell it while you show it
4.) so let me tell you it pisses me off as I fold my arms

Renee is reading Fairy Tale
Spoiler: Radar makes it.

For those of you who cannot stand the idea of reading anothe Where The Red Fern Grows for the rest of your lives - The dog makes it.

This is two books, ultimately. Meeting Adrian, and Grieving Adrian. I liked the first more than the second, but I enjoyed both. I don’t recommend the audiobook. It’s well done but the effects are taken too far and become repetitive over 18 freaking hours…

A fun technological heist story where the crew-gathering is actually just one person, the protagonist, deciding what to fight for and why. Her internal journey is very believable. I enjoyed all of the explanations of the potential of modern technologies in the security sphere, and found them very understandable and approachable, though I could see other readers finding it a whole lot of technobabble. Fun stuff.

So far - while I'm enjoying it - it reads like the beginning of Neuromancer. We've got a genius hacker bent on self-destruction/setting herself up for might-as-well-besuicide.

You have to take notes on every chapter... if you're reading it so that in the future when you argue with other people, you win. :)
