Debby is starting Memories of the Lost
Unfortunately, I can’t get into this audible book. It’s just taking too long for the story to develop.

This book is going on hold. It started out okay, but now... it's dragging with characters I can't keep track of. I'll try again, later on.

I’m about ready to give up. While I am a fan of her music and acting, there’s too much detail. How she designed her outfits, what they looked like and she still has them. Ad nauseum. 23% in, on the audiobook, and I’ve only made it to 1963. Shoot me now. Babs, this book should be cut in half. Zzzz.

I have to say that Barbra’s narrative makes this book so enjoyable. She has a sense of humor. It’s a long book!

I’m really struggling with this story. This storyline is about dealing with obesity— and all the insecurities that come with it. I was doing okay, until I got to the part where Georgia falls in love, gets married. Her insecurities were so bad, that it was painful for me to listen to how she sabotaged her marriage. I’m not sure that I want to continue on.

Debby is starting The Hidden Palace (The Golem and the Jinni, #2)
After years of waiting for the sequel to the first book, I was so disappointed. It’s very rare for me to read a book twice. I should’ve, in this case, because I felt a bit lost. After listening to the audible book, I gave up. The story line didn’t have the magic as the first book. I’ll try again, after listening to the book again.

It has been so many years since her last book that I could barely remember what happened. I borrowed this book from the Libby app, and it got returned before I could finish, so I'm back on the HOLD Request list. It'll take a few weeks to get the audible book back, so I could finish it. Of course, Davina Porter is a fabulous narrator and I'm glad she's back. I am feeling a little 'meh' about this book, so far.

I'm taking a break, here. The narration is great, but I'm confused as to what's going on at this point. I'm not disliking the book, but I'm not loving it either. I'll go back to it, after I finish a different book I just started

The book is a bit tedious, with lots of characters. I spent a little time Googling the history of Mary Queen of Scots, Elizabeth "The Virgin Queen" and the history of the Catholic church and the persecution of Protestants. This is helping me to better understand what the book is about. It's been a few years since I've read Pillars of the Earth-- which I absolutely loved. I'll hang in, because I am enjoying the book.

I want to smack Ruth around. From a young woman who struggled with money, after her father's death...her stupid lusty romance with Thomas and then a marriage with physical violence...then she runs off with her new lover to the United States with fake papers..and then, she's a snob! She blames her sister for revealing that her daughter has a different father! Are you kidding me?

I am slogging through this audiobook. I love the late Edward Herrmann, who was not only a fine actor...but gives a terrific narration. That is the ONLY reason I've stuck with the story. I just realized that the two people who raved about this story are men. There's so much detail into rowing (well, duh, that's what the book is about) that I'm zoning out. I'm told to stick with it, because the ending is the best.

This book is dragging on a bit too much, for my own personal taste. Graphic descriptions of battles, gore, dead animals (I'm such an animal lover) is going on and on and on... I hope the pace picks up as this book is taking forever. The narrator, however, is excellent.

I need to take a break, just past the halfway point. To me, Ashe can be rather stupid. He's impulsive and has made many stupid errors. I'll listen to another book, and return to this later. I think this book is much longer than it needs to be.
