Sandra is on page 55 of 292 of Robinson Crusoe
The first 50 pages can be a little slow going, but now that Mr. Crusoe is a castaway on an island it's moving at a faster pace.

Great book so far, but inadequate translation. I ran out of words allowed, so I'll have to put the details in my review when I finish. Bottom line: some sentences would never be spoken or written initially by an English-speaking writer; they appear to be literal translations without consideration of English syntax.

Sandra is on page 164 of 726 of The Sword of Shannara (The Original Shannara Trilogy, #1)
I got this last Nov.; although I didn't think I liked most fantasy until I was 40 (when I finally read LOTR), I loved Stephen Donaldson's Thomas Covenant books (w/ some reservations) so I thought it was high time I read some Brooks, as he seems more popular as Donaldson. Duh! I read it in 2015! I'm cursed/blessed w/a BAD memory. The blessing: I often reread books I enjoyed once, and have NO idea how they turn out!

Excellent writing! I wouldn’t attest to the accuracy of every detail, but I find it extremely readable, and very perceptive.

Sandra is on page 33 of 1193 of New Interpreter's Bible: General & Old Testament Articles, Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus
So far: Intro to the New Interpreter’s Bible; How We got Our Bible; and Modern English Versions of the Bible. I’m on page 33, and there are 305 pages of articles before it gets to Genesis. After reading the Bible in 6 weeks, I’m even more interested than usual in general Biblical scholarship.

Sandra is 17% done with The Message Devotional Bible (Hardcover): Featuring Notes and Reflections from Eugene H. Peterson
Reading the Bible, cover-to-cover, in 30 days. I’m through Deut. I resist running upstairs to grab Eichrodt’s “Theology of the Old Testament” or to constantly grab my new acquisition, the Kugler and Harrington “Introduction to the Bible” (far more exegetical than hermeneutical, which is what I want right now), right here by the couch. I’m definitely on track to finish before Advent.

Predictable from almost the first, but a lovely piece of writing nonetheless.

I don't think lectio divina was widely known outside monastic or academic environments, if at all. Otherwise, this is really good, if a bit melancholy.

Beautiful but also absolutely devastating. One of the best books I’ve ever read (I last read it 30+ years ago) and it is as good as I remembered.

Sandra is on page 146 of 381 of The Battle for Middle-earth: Tolkien's Divine Design in The Lord of the Rings
So far I've read The Hobbit and her commentary on it; then The Fellowship of the Ring and her commentary on those Books 1 & 2; next is The Two Towers (Books 3 & 4). Her commentary is *fantastic*! It's a wonderful way to go through The Lord of the Rings again.

. . . but I decided to start again, because it has been quite awhile since I started reading this and I want to start again now that I've visited Shantivanam (not that the two are necessarily related, since this book is about Griffiths' time prior to Shantivanam, I think).
