I’ve started reading The Last of the Sea Women, and I’m honestly not sure I can finish it. I understand it’s historical fiction, but the events in Jeju (South Korea) around 1949 are beyond horrifying.
There’s no word strong enough to describe what happened. What was done to those people defies comprehension. “Savages” feels too mild. There’s not a place in hell that could do justice to that level of cruelty.

On chapter 16 and loving it!

I didn't make it through the first chapter without crying! This book is fabulous, and it grabbed my attention from page one!!!

Why am I struggling to finish this book? I know it's a classic and great, but having a hard time getting into it, I guess

I cry and laugh depending on the chapter. This books keeps amazing me with the life challenges Rachel goes through. She is so strong!

Be ready for a lot of emotions when you read this book. The strongest being hate and anger. The stepmother makes Nurse Ratched seem nice.

Not too impressed with the writing style, but intrigued by the story.
