Millie is 70% done with The Murmur of Bees
Slogging through. Interesting main character, but the book is too long. Lacks purpose

Millie is reading Stone Yard Devotional
Interesting “memoir” style and characters, but there must be some symbolism
in the plague and mice for them to take so much attention.

Provocative and disturbing. May give you nightmares, as it should. Recommended, but not for the faint hearted. Say their names…….

Millie is reading North Woods
A fascinating combination of fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, poetry, and almost memoir. A bit hard to get into, but once the concept is clear- absorbing and compelling.

Millie is reading Self-Portrait with Nothing
Too much conjecture about what parallel activities might be. Sometimes I like alternatives, but this felt forced.

Millie is reading Lucky
Interesting and somewhat confusing. Reads like a memoir but is definitely fiction. Lots of detail but disappointing “action” for a novel. Jane Smiley seems to be trying anew style, which is ok, but this is not one of my favorites.

Millie is reading White Rural Rage: The Threat to American Democracy
Definitely slanted to liberal ideas, but well researched and, from my experience, right on.

I really liked this book. Fascinating characters and amusing anecdotes. Well written and just the right length and conclusions.
