when ninth house was marketed as a dark academia-esque novel with secret societies (esp this one) i expected some version of a found family trope, but so far with my read alex feels isolated and alone, not being able to depend on the closest adult with some form of authority in her life and this is kind of heartbreaking after what shes been through !
