Melissa is 30% done with Spells for the Dead (Soulwood #5)

Ironically, it was Nell that made me fall in love with Jane Yellowrock.

Melissa is 65% done with A Blight of Blackwings (Seven Kennings, #2)

If the first book in this series was a recounting of the human responses to tragedy and grief, this book is about what comes next.

Melissa is 30% done with Three Parts Dead (Craft Sequence, #1)

Going much better this time reading in chronological order. Got halfway through the series reading publication order & it just pissed me off that I was so confused.

Second book was much better done than the first, author is really hitting his stride now. Enjoying the series!

First volume down. Definitely the first in a series, you can tell the author hasn't quite got his stride. Unique, fully realized main character offsets what could have been another boring vampire story.

Melissa is 20% done with Glitter & Mayhem

These stories all seem to have sort of a frantic sadness to them. Ten years ago I wouldn't have picked up on the "hurry up and party before your dead" vibe of these.

Melissa is reading Indexing (Indexing, #1)

This is a Kindle serial which isn't quite done, but it's excellent and I'm marking it finished anyway just to clear my list.

For the record, this is an incredibly well-written story. It's just that I haven't been this horrified by the possible future portrayed in a book since Cory Doctorow's Little Brother. *shudder*

Melissa is on page 200 of 504 of Parasite (Parasitology, #1)

I had to stop reading this for a bit. Not because it wasn't good (It's *fascinating*). But because I was waking up deeply disturbed in the middle of the night.

Considering the current political climate, I'm finding this book f*cking depressing! Like a pro-farmer, anti-big-corporation 1984. Very well written. Good message. Depressing as HELL so far.

Melissa is reading The Blinding Knife (Lightbringer, #2)

I would be reading this book faster if it wasn't so HUGE. 10 points to ebooks!
