I finished the first book. There were several scenes with Don Quixote and Sancho Panza that made me laugh out load. Cervantes uses his satire on romance chivalry text to critique the Catholic Church during the Spanish Inquisition. He criticizes absolute morality and emphasizes that we “are the children of our actions” not words. I will be taking a break before starting the second book.

This novel is so silly. The knight errant holds on to his old fashioned virtues despite his tribulations.

This text is very dense, but so intriguing!
