Karen Barth is reading The River We Remember

This was an extraordinary book full of richly drawn characters and a great murder mystery. Even after you learn who did it, the story continues at a high intensity to a gut wrenching end. Fortunately there is an epilogue that brings you back and provides an uplifting ending. I highly recommend this book.

While I love the writing I cannot abide Emma, a 19th Century "Valley Girl". I know she has good intentions, but really... . Loved Pride & Prejudice, and will read Persuasion next instead. I'll opt for the movie version of Emma instead. I know that is lame, but it's the best I will do. Perhaps the movie will entice me to pick the story back up!
