I find this pretty creepy but gripping. Like a horrible trainwreck, I just can't look away.

Wow, refugees and everything. Some themes are universal.

"We are all men. We are all sons..." NO WE ARE NOT.

What is patriotism? What is gender? What is royalty? What is cold?

New worlds and beings and a strong female protagonist. What's not to like?

The sixth installment in the Cadicle series takes an interesting turn.

It's creepy and so much of it now rings familiar. Be afraid, be very afraid.

I couldn't resist starting this third book in Butler's Xenogenesis series...

Audiobook with Simon Prebble narration is chilling.

More drama, more action, more humor, a tiny bit of romance, and now they are back on the space ship. WOOHOO!

So many of their struggles are metaphors for ours...

So in the current chapter they are visiting an inhabited moon whose people have been isolated for some decades. The local women are sexually harassing the earthling (astronaut) men in EXACTLY the same way the Donald described harassing women. Art imitates life... Ugh. Point well made, though.

I love when a sequel picks up pretty much where the previous book left off, which this on did, more or less (with a prologue that summarized the previous book, even). Off to visit another part of the galaxy and find Ei'Brai's people, or something!

So, if we met some aliens and they communicated with us in some way we'd never imagined or experienced, how would we react?

Rereading before I dive into the sequel.

Creepy, haunting, clever, and suspenseful... Handmaid's Tale with aliens and linguists. Seriously fantastic.

Still a fantastical and bizarre dreamland.
