Gemma is a strong female lead with a stubborn streak that's going to get her into some real trouble. The beats in this book land where they need to, but more importantly, the characters seem right. The author doesn't skimp on the secondary characters but infuses them with personality and complexity. The imagining of the urban fantasy world that unfolds seems natural and plausible. Fun, fast-paced read!

What a wealth of knowledge! This one will make a great reference book as well as a read-through. Well thought out information in a palatable form, though sometimes a bit overwhelming :). I enjoyed this book and will probably get it in paperback to keep as a handy reference.

So far, so good. Very entertaining. The only reason I'm at 3 pages is that I'm reading it with my wife and we're doing that at bedtime - when we're not too tired ;)

What an intriguing book! I really enjoyed the story and the struggle throughout - definitely a coming of age story and one really gets to know the main character well.

Enthralling! We'll be discussing this book at our next MtA event, so I need to read faster. I didn't know it was 512 pages when I agreed! My consolation - it's an amazingly original story well told. Loving it so far.

The story is enjoyable the first time, third time, or twentieth time. It's an original tale of hope that hit at just the right time. I really enjoyed reading it again!

J.K. Rowling breaks half the rules that authors typically follow. Adverbs are sprinkled throughout, and she dives into the head of whoever she wants (using third-person omniscient to its fullest). What I think keeps me going is really the fantastic story!

I mean, wouldn't we all want to be suddenly super-wealthy and able to do magic? Especially younger me? Absolutely. Very entertaining even the third time through!

What a fun book! The lightheartedness of the main character is a welcome balance to the heavy end-time-prophesy vein following through. A realistic scenario with regards to the environment and geopolitical situation, this novel does an excellent job capturing this point in time, with a twist. I'm stealing a bunch of ideas with regards to character development and plot from this book - well done!
