Time for a re-read!

DNF. As sad as that makes me, this book began as one idea and ended up going in a different direction that’s not working out for me.

So far, an engaging read. Learning some things that I didn’t know about, and meeting some historical figures whom I’ve never known about. But coming to the book with a critical eye, I can say that I’m (sadly) not terribly surprised at how blithely McCullough treats slavery—at least not at this point in the book. Wish it were otherwise.

This book is wearing me out.
