So far it is fairly amusing. But it seems like it's a string of short stories or novellas that have been strung together with rewrites or re-edits. Every chapter "he" retells, briefly, how the main characters met. That is something you would expect from a new book in series; not in one contiguous novel.

I don't know if I will finish this since I only have 8 more days of access to it. I am somewhat underwhelmed by it.

The reader of this book is delightful!! When is portrays the father, you can just feel the charm oozing out across the ether. And of course, Gaiman's humor has other drivers staring at my sudden bursts of laughter.

I was looking forward to listening/reading this book. It's such a fascinating story. However, I don't know if I can finish listening to this! The narrator is absolutely horrible! At times she sounds like an automaton with word emphasis based more on etymology than nature. In other moments, she emotes with enthusiasm usually only heard in a Whitney Houston ballad. Her phrasing is awful and has no linguistic logic.

I received this book via the Penguin First to Read program. Unfortunately, it expired on me before I got to finish. I was really, really enjoying it. I don't know much about WWII in the Pacific. And this was fascinating. I am surprised the ratings aren't higher, but maybe it would have slowed down beyond the point I lost it.

So far this is pretty fun. I'm enjoying it. Kinda reminds me of Sue Townsends "The Queen and I."

I'm really enjoying this children's book. It's read by Jim Dale is one - if not THE - best children's book reader walking around today. He brings such exuberance and richness to anything he reads. It's good story. It has a lot of similar elements to Harry Potter (abused children, magic, kids working together against great odds and danger). Good for a road trip with kids.

hmm. I'm not sure about this book. I'm on Ch 12 of 21 and it hasn't said a thing about how to adopt the strategies as an adult. It's all been about the studies the author has conducted. Don't get me wrong, they're fascinating! But that's not what I bought it for. And Alan Alda reading this kind of book is not the best choice for the book's sake. I'm sure Alan wanted to read it because the topic interested him.

This has got to be one of the most depressing protagonists EVER! I'm not sure I'm going to be able to finish this. It is SO depressing.

I don't know if ^ this edition is the one I'm listening to; I'm listening to one read by Simon Jones. At points - it is hilarious! That upper crust Brit accent is perfect for this book.
