Murder Your Darlings (Algonquin Round Table #1)
Some anachronistic language here...credit ratings in the 1920s? . Ms. used instead of Miss/Mrs.? A little thing, but it bugs me.

Becoming Mrs. Lewis
Huge historical inaccuracy- confusing Madame de Maintenon with Empress Josephine.
Add to it a meandering plot, unappealing characters...I'm done.

About 150 pages in, I understand some of the reader reviews, Joy is a difficult character to really like.

Truly, Madly: Vivien Leigh, Laurence Olivier, and the Romance of the Century
Research seems a little weak, 100 pages in and there are glaring mistakes.
"A Bill of Divorcement" is described as a comedy.
Joan Fontaine is described as Olivia de Haviland's older sister.
Basic stuff.

Well...the author obviously has no idea when blueberries and strawberries are in season. Definitely not April in Albany, NY.

What to Read and Why
Not so sure our taste in reading mesh well. Subject matter of several of the books she describes: alcoholism, rape, murder, paedphilia...yikes.

This could have been written today. "Public service is a vast system of organized corruption." "Many who have come to know how presidents are made have abandoned the polls in disgust." Sound familiar?
