“..if those infected with the disease of Brahmanism resort to bloodshed, do know that we will not retreat—the responsibility for what results will be theirs and not ours”. 🔥🔥🔥

This man, over a 100 years ago, was SIMULTANEOUSLY pursuing a PhD from Columbia, an MSc from LSE, and training to qualify for the bar at a prestigious Inn of Court in London; while back home his close friend (a Brahmin) wouldn’t even let him stay home temporarily during a crisis. Words can’t describe his greatness. He is everything.

“He didn't know that in some places, like the country that Rahel came from, various kinds of despair competed for primacy. And that personal despair could never be desperate enough. That something happened when personal turmoil dropped by at the wayside shrine of the vast, violent, circling, driving, ridiculous, insane, unfeasible, public turmoil of a nation.”

An emotional, painful ride already. A factual account that was written from the Tamils' and LTTE's perspectives.

Pardon me for politicising a work of fantasy, but, Brandon Sanderson's worldview is very status-quoist and...libertarian? It's a nagging feeling that is getting increasingly difficult to ignore. But hey, he seems like a cool guy and breaking down his politics is really not worth anybody's time so I'll just continue enjoying his captivating writing. 😁

"If the democrats can draw strength from Thomas Jefferson's declaration of July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, if revolutionaries can get inspired even today by the November 7, 1917, Petrograd declaration of a Lenin, people who are committed to linguistic freedom will recognise the importance of our collective declarations at Tiruvannamalai on September 21, 1957".
