An oriental epic : 1900 pages over three volumes.
Reminiscent of cult movies like CROUCHING
TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, HOUSE OF THE FLYING
DAGGERS and the KILL BILL franchise.
Well written and engaging. Strong female characters.

Every once in awhile haunting an overstock outlet results
in a happy find. How about a mint, unblemished $40 coffee
table book for $4.99 ? And better yet, an intelligently
written, full color feast for the eyes ? A biology primer on a
little known universe, not to be missed.

An unusual storyline for the Dr. Siri novels, yet so
common in so many American and European crime
novels: the brutal serial killer on the loose.
The first chapter says this will be anything but same-
old, same-old. Can't wait !

Exceptionally well written essays that move along
like the best action/adventure fiction out there.

and everything in between.

Multilayered storytelling: history, politics, murder,
demonic possession and humor.
Another winner from Colin Cotterill set in 1970's
communist Laos.

Although not indicated, the book is geared to a young
adult audience. Informative and lavishly illustrated with
sketches, colorful paintings and easy to follow charts.

Not the brightest star in the Tom Holt / K.J. Parker
universe so far. But I'm intrigued....

Documentary director/interviewer Errol Morris believes he
shared a view of "truth" with author John LeCarre :
Regarding history,

British paleontologist David Hone has a co-author named
Mark Witton, paleontologist, author and paleo artist. This
collaborative project is turning out to be a very 'goodread.'

Embarrassed to admit that this is my very first reading of
anything DeGrasse Tyson. Amazingly readable science
by a brilliant, expressive man in touch with popular culture.
A man possessed of a sense of humor.

A VERY,VERY irreverent, tongue in cheek satire of a 2003
movie, VIEW FROM THE TOP. Hate Gwyneth Paltrow ? No ?
Dislike her even a little ? How about her GOOP empire ?
Maybe you just really dislike crappy movies.
British comedian, actor and author Richard Ayoade says,
'Oh no, not he ' with a smirk. Gwyn's film is right up there

The main title (GORGON) is misleading unless you also read the subtitle: Paleontology, Obsession, and the Greatest Catastrophe in Earth's History.

The demonic looking skeleton, a blood moon and the larger letters
spelling out "GORGON" - that's marketing and salesmanship !
The cover ensures you'll at least notice it and pick it up....

A cemetery should be a place of respect, reverence and reflection. Sometimes people see any park-like setting as a place for their kids
to run amok and play hide and seek while they engage in their own boisterous behavior.
The author notes that, ironically, Disneyland has its own "special"
visitors who think it's perfectly okay to scatter grandpa's ashes
at the entrance to his favorite ride........

Incredibly complex. Realistic.
Totally engaging.
One of Rankin's best novels.

For a non-professional, a difficult read (for its technical
medical references), but incredibly ageless for its relevance
today. The book was released in 1985.

Ah, a real detective novel.

Thinking about the last time I was both entertained and creeped out at
the same time. SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, anyone ? Not to be read before
bedtime.
