Ken is on page 65 of 240 of Take Me to Your Leader: Perspectives on Your First Alien Encounter
Embarrassed to admit that this is my very first reading of
anything DeGrasse Tyson. Amazingly readable science
by a brilliant, expressive man in touch with popular culture.
A man possessed of a sense of humor.

Thank you, Michelle Skelton............

Ken is on page 46 of 240 of Ayoade On Top
A VERY,VERY irreverent, tongue in cheek satire of a 2003
movie, VIEW FROM THE TOP. Hate Gwyneth Paltrow ? No ?
Dislike her even a little ? How about her GOOP empire ?
Maybe you just really dislike crappy movies.
British comedian, actor and author Richard Ayoade says,
'Oh no, not he ' with a smirk. Gwyn's film is right up there
with CITIZEN KANE........

Ken is on page 112 of 257 of Gorgon: Paleontology, Obsession, and the Greatest Catastrophe in Earth's History
The main title (GORGON) is misleading unless you also read the subtitle: Paleontology, Obsession, and the Greatest Catastrophe in Earth's History.

The demonic looking skeleton, a blood moon and the larger letters
spelling out "GORGON" - that's marketing and salesmanship !
The cover ensures you'll at least notice it and pick it up....

It worked on me.
I've already ordered 3 other works by Peter D. Ward (Amazon)

Ken is on page 108 of 240 of The Secret Life of a Cemetery: The Wild Nature and Enchanting Lore of Père-Lachaise
A cemetery should be a place of respect, reverence and reflection. Sometimes people see any park-like setting as a place for their kids
to run amok and play hide and seek while they engage in their own boisterous behavior.
The author notes that, ironically, Disneyland has its own "special"
visitors who think it's perfectly okay to scatter grandpa's ashes
at the entrance to his favorite ride........

Incredibly complex. Realistic.
Totally engaging.
One of Rankin's best novels.

Ken is on page 79 of 230 of The Woods Hole Cantata: Essays on Science and Society
For a non-professional, a difficult read (for its technical
medical references), but incredibly ageless for its relevance
today. The book was released in 1985.

Thinking about the last time I was both entertained and creeped out at
the same time. SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, anyone ? Not to be read before

A richly illustrated, well researched, engaging exploration of a young

The language is rough and the blood and gore, vivid.
A dark fantasy set in an alternative medieval Europe
overrun by bloodthirsty elves.
Not for the feint of heart. Absolutely engaging.
Director James Cameron has already purchased the rights
to the book and is currently working on a screenplay with
Abercrombie. Casting and release date to be determined.

Abercrombie's writing invokes all five senses .The foetid smells of
the unwashed. The raucous sounds of the street. Seeing the
grandeur of the religious edifices or the half-finished candle-burned
walls of the underground. Unwanted embraces or the touch of silk
against the skin. The taste of sour ale or the vomit in the back of
the throat-feel when fear engulfs you.
A medieval experience !
Now add monsters.

Ken is on page 28 of 192 of Timothy; or, Notes of an Abject Reptile
A tale of nature and humans as obseved by 18th century tortoise,
Timothy. Now in his eighties, a transplant from the Grecian Isles,
our narrator wanders through a hole in the fence of the English
vicarage he now calls home. An observant and poetic sort, he
learns much about the world in a little over a week's time.

easily drawn into the world of a bullied high school freshman. A page
turning classic.
