This reads like a history book. I'm not sure why it's called The Zookeeper's Wife. It's more about her husband, the Jews, the Germans, and zoo itself. So far, Antonina is nearly a non-character for most of the book. Other than being partially based on her diaries, she's just a woman wandering through a story about other people. I appreciate the history and research. But it is not at all what I expected.

I can't believe I'm saying this about a Liane Moriarty book. I'm over halfway through and if it wasn't a book club selection, this would be a DNF. Whatever happens at this BBQ better be ginormously shocking. Moriarty must have felt she was writing a cataclysmic snowball of a book. Something tells me nothing will warrant this buildup. Please. Let something happen!

So far, excellent sequel. Wish the author had not learned the word "tangentially" since the previous book. Overuse of the word is distracting.
