I don't understand this book and I'm finding it boring. It's about the 1930s and a hunting/fishing camp in Arkansas that seems to house an unending parade of felons who are all exactly alike. I'm going to finish it but I don't know why.

I really wanted to like this book. But--air quotes. New York-style pizza. Panic attacks. I'm glad the author researched the African-American WACs but why did she not research the culture?

Ellen is 10% done with What Did You Do In The War, Sister?: Catholic Sisters in the WWII Nazi Resistance

I really want to like this book, and maybe it will improve. So far, though, I am disappointed. The POV character is not engaged in the story; there is no emotional content. It's a recitation ("I graduated from high school, I joined a convent...).
