Reasons: Obscure references, nothing happens, boring characters, confusing.

Disappointed because this book came from a YouTube recommendation for classic books for beginners. I should have read the first few pages first.

Some of the dialogue and writing is of British-English dialect, which really throws me off. (So I guess the author is British?) It destroys some of flow, though I’m sure if I was British I wouldn’t even notice.

Details of atrocities. This is horrific to read about. Julie will probably skip reading this book now.

This is the current book for the One Maryland One Book statewide reading program.

Parts have been very illuminating, like why the dwarves and elves conflict. But most of this has been quite a slog, so far.

Hurt my back this morning, so I stayed home and read.
