Chapt 2: Mr. M’Choakemchild lolol

Turns out that reading this book is difficult whille kids from a Xmas film playing in the other room keep screaming “Help me Santa!” and he reader also suffers from headaches and soreness of over-exercising and Covid and flu vaccine effects. Maybe not ideal DeLillo-reading conditions (or maybe it is?)…will try again soonish

DNF. Am I too old for this or is it just not a good HST collection? I used to like his whole schtick. The book collects columns written from the mid-late 80s and cover his sportsman-related adventures, vicious rants and throw a lot of barbs at 1980s figures such as Ed Meese, Al Haig & others who seemed important at the time. I think this book was formed during his difficult period - too chaotic to be read.

First two stories in this collection are fantastic - perfect airplane reads, which was where I read them.
