Loving it. It's from the perspective of someone living with it. As a mom of a newly diagnosed Type 1, this book is helping me see it from their point of view.

Why is his whole personality that he has a southern accent? And has cats?

I've probably watched more rom-coms than the main character. But starting chapters with quotes from them is super distracting.

Sometimes, they feel forced and out of place. One or two... sure. But every chapter? We get it. The book is a rom-com.

And if you’re going to quote Ten Things I Hate About You... be sure the mmc has a personality.

The fmc has so much anxiety, her inner thoughts make me anxious for her.

I know she's bitter that she doesn't have a mom, but I feel like she's not giving her stepmom a chance. She could literally go dress shopping with her.

Michael has as much personality as wet paint. Watching Liz try to force things with him is painful.

And the only Wes I know is Wes Craven, so this name she says a thousand times is super distracting. I can't get past that.

And there's a lot of OMGs.

I must be broken inside... this rom-com didn't land for me.

This book is soo long. Listened for 2 days and only got through 30%. Tons of Violence, Wing Leaders, and books. Love the dragons.

End of chapter one is chef's kiss. I screamed.

It takes 3 cartons of cigs, so they'll turn up the gas during a cremation.

Add that to the list of things I never thought I would know.

I like the book. It's getting good. But why does Book Club pick so many historical fictions back to back? I can only read about death and miscarriages so many times. If you’ve never been to the point where you're hemorrhaging during a birth, and doctors tell you you shouldn't have pregnancies anymore for your sake.... those scenes don't hit as hard. Gonna bow out of any more historical fictions that involve births.

The writing is.. **chef's kiss**. The fight scenes... perfect pacing. This is such a fun book to read. I haven't been this excited to keep reading a book in a while. And all the character names she picked feel like hidden Easter eggs.

Didn't realize this book had Fae. I need to read summaries first, lol.

This book rubs me the wrong way. The author may have worked around Autistic people, but he didn't do any research when he wrote it... it shows. And as a mom of an Autistic child, I don't like the way he writes the MC's inner dialogue. That's not how they all think. I feel like, if this is someone's only experience with Autistics, they're going to have a lot of misconceptions.

Hunger games with dragons.... yesss

The back cover compares it to the Hunger Games and The Power. Mmm... I would compare it more to M. Night Shyamalan's The Village, The Lord of the Flies, and The Giver... crossed with a Handmaid's Tale.

Using this to outline the story I started telling to my kids (a year ago)... as their bedtime story. It’s awesome and they've helped me collaborate on it. I want to finish it for them and work on the next in the series.

No guys.. it's not that Shades of Grey. Not the one you're thinking of.

This is another pick from Book Club. Someone else recommended.

Although... given all the recs from the ladies lately... we've read a lot of war books, too many war books... maybe we should read the other Shades of Grey. Just saying.

Still loving it so far.

So far... I'm in love with the writing and the main character's inner dialogue. Very descriptive and you're sucked right into the scenery and story.
