Carmelo Valone is on page 159 of 424 of GREAT SILENCE:SCIENCE & PHILOSOPHY OF FERMIS PARADOX
Although one does need to have some understanding of basic principles of astrophysics and some formulation (as it's easier to theorize) this book actually helped me understand that the Fermi Paradox ie the Great Silence is not just option 1 (aliens exist) or option 2 (aliens don't exist) as there are literally 75 ways to interpret this concept about what we'd call existence elsewhere within or beyond our own Galaxy.

This book is definitely not for folks that don't have a deeper understanding of how physics work and also the overall history of astrobiology.

Carmelo Valone is on page 145 of 304 of Making the Monster: The Science Behind Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (Bloomsbury Sigma)
Full of weird, fun, and yes quite gruesome and worrisome historical facts behind an era of corpse stealing, pioneering, Shelly storytelling Era.

Read during the day!

Carmelo Valone is on page 45 of 262 of The Wayfinders: Why Ancient Wisdom Matters in the Modern World (CBC Massey Lecture)
I used to think that he was 'that guy' who merely wrote 'The Serpent and the Rainbow,' but he's got a lot more than that going on.

So far, Wade Davis is everything that you might not think of....i.e. he is not one to skip on the subject of his own white privilege and or England's own past of Colonialism. A really refreshing look at the importance of indigenous culture.

As far as music memoirs go, this is one of my favorites so far, but you might just have to be a Scarface fan to really appreciate this work/story.

Carmelo Valone is on page 65 of 256 of Consequence: A Memoir
So far, I've read 65 pages in one night. It's safe to say that this memoir is pretty much a captivating story about many things that are hard to describe, such as manipulation...that is both being manipulated and then to be the one doing any such manipulation. Ambivalence is another rather dark theme here.

Carmelo Valone is on page 30 of 218 of The Narrow Door: A Memoir of Friendship
So far, I love this sparse and poetic prose. Also, anything that mentions Bucks County gets a little sarcastic smile out of me. Paul is one of those rare, voices that never really even seems to get close to pretentious, and I keep reading more as I really do appreciate his observations and his literary selflessness if that makes any sense to anyone else but me....very meditative and sad.

Carmelo Valone is on page 59 of 225 of The Art of Memoir
A must read for anyone who writes about the art of memoir writing...and I'd say that it has some great basic information on writing that I knew, but accessibility is the best part of this book. She doea refer to herself, but I don't think that this is intention narcissism more so about the work behind CNF, and at least she makes fun of her own work and self.

This is some amazingly, dense and multilayered collection of poetry. She has every right to be proud of such a strong and pronounced voice, of so much poetic mastery. Boom. Beautiful and bloody. Brilliant too....

So far, so brilliant. He has made some amazing shapes and forms of both prose and poetry. It's always nice to see those lines blurred.

Carmelo Valone is on page 80 of 288 of Waking the Tiger: Healing Trauma
This book is not literature by any means, but it's full of some really great info and theories about body mind awareness that nearly anyone can appreciate. Also, kind of hippie dippie, but nothing too messy for those interested in neurobiology (to a degree) in both cases of mammals in the wild and in people with ptsd within the everyday world.

Carmelo Valone is on page 60 of 160 of The Argonauts
A bold statement of purpose in regards to queer life and child-rearing. Sometimes I feel like I just want more narrative and less theory, but none the less it is a style that I have to respect for the form that has been created. (Also I might be a bit biased as she is one of my mentors/professors)
