I want to start a petition to get Sanderson to write a novella where all Kaladin does is chill on vacation. I want to see this man happy and relaxed for once. Just a tiny break

Noooo Brandon!! Why did you have to introduce a criminological anachronism in the book? It could have just stayed a fun theory but why call it broken window theory when that was introduced in the 80s? The 1980s? Could have called it smashed fences theory… crumbling brick theory… rusted metal theory!

Such an unexpected book. I didn’t think the setting would be as such, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly the worldbuilding has changed with the advancements. I won’t lie, I miss ashy Luthadel, but Elendel has great potential so far.

Ohh that was a good plot twist!

When i see authors writing fantasy books with some Italian inspirations and then add Italian inspired names that make no sense, it makes me want to write a fantasy book set in Medieval England and name the main character Bitchard while his sidekick is Robbin. I swear, they always choose names that almost make sense in Italian but are so silly that they take me out of the narration.

Excited to start this but I’m also 10 pages in and have already encountered a personal pet peeve, the name ‘Nicolo’.

The plot is plodding along quite slowly despite the action packed nature of one of the two povs. I guess by contrast it makes the other one feel slower. I hope the author can tie the two together soon so they se get more character development in connection to the relationship.

I’m so beautifully confused. The only theory I have is that it might be a ‘The fifteen lives’ kinda twist. Time will tell

The writing is very fun and immersive… it’s just a pity that so many names and places fall into a weird italian uncanny valley, where nothing is actually Italian despite the cover suggesting it’s set in an alternate Venice, and yet everything is reminiscent of italy. But not even of a Venetian Italy.

Things are starting to pick up.

Savouring this bit by bit

Not me being almost done with this book and only realizing now why the author might have named two of the children Hiroshi and Nagasa.

Wow. This book is just… wow. The atmosphere os impeccable and I’m already loving the main characters.

I’m going to start to read this book tomorrow! Really excited to get to it!

The interview was a much needed change of pace. I hope we get a bit more variety in the second half in terms of dynamics, but overall a fun read.

Lately I’ve struggled with reading due to being overworked. So i need something a bit bonkers before i dive in into something heavier like the sword of kaigan or WoR

The magic of the characters has vanished since book one. Jamie’s more than Andrew’s.

It’s nice but I’m missing the relational part between the two main characters. So far the first book is winning hands down

I didn’t know what to expect but that was an intense start.

Finally getting to this after months of having it on the back burner

All i would like is to have a week where work is not kicking my butt so that i can read this properly. As things are right now it feels like doing a disservice to myself and the book by not immersing myself in it properly

I don’t know if it’s that kind of book but I’m hoping someone will turn up dead. I need the stakes to climb up

Even though it’s clear from the reviews that the premise is misleading, I am going into this mostly blind to whatever the initial premise I glimpsed months ago was. And so far, I’m having a good time with this. I’m assuming it will be light societal commentary masquerading as a reality show, and so far beauty standards and race have been introduced as potential focuses. We’ll see if the author can do it well.
