Savouring this bit by bit

Not me being almost done with this book and only realizing now why the author might have named two of the children Hiroshi and Nagasa.

Wow. This book is just… wow. The atmosphere os impeccable and I’m already loving the main characters.

I’m going to start to read this book tomorrow! Really excited to get to it!

The interview was a much needed change of pace. I hope we get a bit more variety in the second half in terms of dynamics, but overall a fun read.

Lately I’ve struggled with reading due to being overworked. So i need something a bit bonkers before i dive in into something heavier like the sword of kaigan or WoR

The magic of the characters has vanished since book one. Jamie’s more than Andrew’s.

It’s nice but I’m missing the relational part between the two main characters. So far the first book is winning hands down

I didn’t know what to expect but that was an intense start.

Finally getting to this after months of having it on the back burner

All i would like is to have a week where work is not kicking my butt so that i can read this properly. As things are right now it feels like doing a disservice to myself and the book by not immersing myself in it properly

I don’t know if it’s that kind of book but I’m hoping someone will turn up dead. I need the stakes to climb up

Even though it’s clear from the reviews that the premise is misleading, I am going into this mostly blind to whatever the initial premise I glimpsed months ago was. And so far, I’m having a good time with this. I’m assuming it will be light societal commentary masquerading as a reality show, and so far beauty standards and race have been introduced as potential focuses. We’ll see if the author can do it well.

This book should have had the subtitle: on the importance of habeas corpus

The perfect blend of romance and cosy fantasy. I initially worried it would have the over the top comedy of an ‘apprentice to the villain’ but instead this is a restrained flavor of comedy and romance that is much more to my taste.

So entertaining! And i see what you did there at page 31 miss Kingfisher, with all that sandalwood talk. 😂

I’m hoping the plot will pick up the pace from the halfway point, because for how rich the language is, this is not a page turner

I’m so baffled by the choices made in this book. While initially i couldn’t believe how likely elspeth is in this compared to all the other characters, I’m finding myself preferring elm and ione as a couple than whatever is going on with this quest for the alder tree.

I feel like naming a character liam is just… too soon. This is basically a cry to summon an entire book community and reduce them to shred. Emotional piggy-backing

Officially giving up on remembering any new name

Is there a mistake in my edition? Two chapters have the same title ‘fencing with father’. Quirky

Unfortunately I’m realizing that if these people never get back together, I will not give one fuck.
And the whole dreamy seaside town vibes, in their perfect golden glory, are awakening the grinch in me. It’s just too perfect, too bougie, too sparkling. Clear case of ‘it’s me, not you’.

Slow start. I’m liking the ensemble pieces but the more romance-adjacent bits are leaving me feeling lukewarm about this couple.

I remember squealing about while reading Book Lovers and so far there has been no squealing to be had.
