A bit more than halfway. Morrison views comics quite differently, with the notion that they are 'real' in a sense, and that it is a mistake to try to impute our reality onto them. This is pretty at odds with how comics have gone since I read them as a kid. I like realism in my comic stories--Frank Miller's Daredevil run is one of my faves. However, All Star Superman is pretty great, too.

A nice combo of comic book history and personal anecdotes as a kid and then as a beginning writer. I like the way Morrison writes; he weaves complex ideas and observations with wry humor and self deprecation.

Will he wolf out or not? That is the big question as I round the last third of the book. If he does--total acceptance, part of the crew, etc., but also marked for a continuing nomadic and harried existence. If he doesn't, alienated a bit from his tribe, but also maybe steps into the more domesticated world of safety and regularity (and boredom).

Not sure which way it'll go.

So Marcus and Margot are maybe the same person? I hope it gets clearer, because I am pretty confused.

About a quarter into this book. It's really illuminating a different writing style for me. I tend to be more concrete with visuals, and Johnson is way more dreamlike and poetic. I feel like she is giving me permission to let go a bit and go with the flow.

I am very confused about who Margot is. I hope that's on purpose and I wasn't just missing something (I was on a gummy, so it's entirely possible).

Awesome so far! Peter David is fantastic at writing humorous fantasy. I was a big fan of his work on The Hulk in the 90s.

Present tense is not my fave, but I haven't put it down yet. Some fun stuff so far.

Digging it so far! I love the juxtaposition of the 'clean' Victorian world' with the grotesquery of the undead.

Oddly enough, I'm not a huge fan of epic fantasy. However, Ms Buroker writes some really smooth, engaging prose, and I'm finding myself hooked by the story.

Gotten tremendously better.

Started off really great, but has become a tad dull. Having a hard time working up the stamina to go more than a few pages at a time.

Ironically, the prose is more poetic than the poems. I'm not wild about the poems.

I'm not generally a fan of vampire stuff, but this one has me hooked so far. It's noir-ish, and the first person narrator is really compelling. And no sparkly vampires.

I am so tempted to just dump this book right now. The only thing that keeps me reading is the good reputation, but I'm finding these stories to be kind of amateurish and corny. I know they're 60 years old, but so is DUNE, and there's nothing amateurish about that.
