I feel like I'm reading anime... Not manga... Anime... The slow paced anime that keeps your brain whirring. It's beautiful and thought-provoking, with petals spinning in the wind type. I'm still enchanted but also a little sleepy.

Rereading for this year!

Listening to this one and so far, it's sciency fun and is warming my nerd heart.

I shouldn't be surprised by this book, I sort of already know the ending, right? Yet this is just sadness and cruelty that is next level. It's taking me longer to read this because I'm just afraid to get to the games.

You are both AB Negative?? Ummm no no no no no.... AB is 1.5% of the US population and out of that, like only 30% would be negative. The odds of this are astronomical, nearly impossible. And eeh gads if this detail becomes important. If she does, as she says be his personal blood bank I might be out. That's not how blood banking works everyone.

This story is interesting for my brain to piece together.

Getting a lot of story dump. It's fascinating but I hope I can remember it all.

This just got blushingly sexy.

Expectation: This book is so gorgeous, with holly on the spine and beautiful art under the jacket, I fully expected the prose and story to be as gorgeous...

Reality: I think the book might be too pretty.

I mean, I am so far into it and don't know why I'm still reading it. It's like, do I finish it because I've devoted so much time? Do I finish it because I thought the cover was so pretty? Do I care enough about the characters? Do I want to know about the magic?

I mean.... it's just... I don't know... dull?? I really don't care TO finish it, but... maybe I'll skim the rest. Is that what you'd do?

I'm not sure why I'm reading this.... And now, I'm not sure why I'm still reading this.

....there are a lot of "clicked tongues" on this one too....

so...... this is not a love story..... huh. And this obsession is just starting to really creep me out.

I like Ralph, though. Ralph is adorable.

Hmmm... still on the fence, but it's an interesting story. Right now, I'm just kinda grateful that it's not too sciencey. At least it isn't at the moment.

This book was recommended to me BECAUSE I'm a blood expert, and I'm not sure that was such a good idea. I went into this with a sideglace in the first place, and am having to remind myself it is sci-fi.

Hmm.... I feel like I'm not the audience, or maybe I've outgrown this book... nor sure. It's been several years since I was a virgin, so this might be a great intro to intimacy for someone... less experienced??

This is just the kind of fantasy I love, like almost an old German fairytale revved for a alternate world. And the magic is just cool as anything.

So far, love it....

EVERYONE SHOULD OWN THIS! IT'S BRILLIANT!!

So.... this is my favorite read so far this year. It's hilarious and a breath of fresh air!

I don't think this author has ever spent any time with geologists.

Geologists are homespun, earthy souls who absolutely care nothing about appearance and wouldn't notice other people's relationships. I'm positive it was no different in the 1950s. To pick geologists, out of all the sciences, to find jealousy in beauty and Nobel nomination is ridiculous. Strike one!

So far it's dripping with pretentious flowering wordyness.

So far I'm charmed and delighted.

Like other Barnhill books, I'm turning inward and learning more about my own soul.

So far, this is fun. And let's be honest here, this reads as a horror story being an author.
