Instantly this book is worlds better than the last one. It seems to hold that the last book was filler. Maisie is back doing casework & the story feels alive & fresh. YAY.

This book is definitely more calm then last few adventures of Miss Dobbs. She is officially working with, essentially, the British CIA as they try to figure out what Hitler and his sympathizers are up to. Maisie is acting as a professor, and seems removed from where we usually see her. I'll be curious to see how this is wrapped up since it's clearly right before WW2 begins.

He110Ne0
He110Ne0 is on page 145 of 338 of The Mapping of Love and Death (Maisie Dobbs, #7)
This book is an excellent installment. It seems like Winspear figured out the faster pacing from the last book works really well for Maisie and she's brought that into this tale as well. She's being targeted by someone who wants the secrets to a family fortune lost for over a decade now. An interesting battle of wills is happening.

Oh man - this mystery spans the Atlantic! A young cartographer who was killed in 1914, body discovered long afterwards in a collapsed bunker, had been on the precipice of announcing his discovery of oil rich land in California. His wealthy family is now trying to figure out what exactly happened to their son - because the autopsy report indicates murder, and noone can find the land deeds. Maisie's on the case!

On to book seven of this amazing series. So glad it was part of a "start a new series" sale at the beginning of the year. I've been enjoying reading these more than I thought I could. Maisie Dobbs is my favorite female read this year, tied in place w/Jane Yellowrock :)

This book is a lot more suspenseful than any of the past books have been. Winspear seems to be trying something a little different here - writing a LOT from the perspective of the unknown terrorist Maisie is searching for. This book deals a lot w/untreated PTSD - long before it was called PTSD. Definitely another great read so far.

I think I might have this mystery solved. Now the fun part of seeing if I'm right and if there's a twist!

This mystery is a bit different than the fast pace of the last few books. It takes place in a location other than London, so we spent very little time at Maisie's home base so far. At the same time, I'm intrigued by what the town she's in has to offer & it's interesting to see the political dynamics between the "gypsies" & the "londoners" during those times. Always feel like I'm getting a super fun history lesson.

It's such a pleasure reading books with such well developed characters- characters with flaws that make them so human. Maisie is far from perfect (or even loveable sometimes). aside from the great mystery yet again, the insight into Maise "behind the curtain" is making this yet another great book.

This is the best book yet. I could not put this down last night until my eyes forced me to. I can't wait to see how this mystery unfurls.

Already much better pacing than the first book, and the mystery really does have me intrigued. I can actually say I don't know which direction it's going which is nice.

Really enjoying this book. The main character is a PI in post-WW1 England and I'm just really intrigued with her character. There are precious few female leads who don't boast super powers but are put as the leads as detectives in mature lit. I'm happy this is an established series because I'll probably def want to read the rest.

9 books in and still going strong. I am really loving the dynamic that has been established and is growing between Jane and the vamp politics. Her working relationship with Leo is changing to show how he has come to respect her & her hatred of his decisions is getting tempered into an interesting design. Great detective work.

I have to check when this book was released versus when the Assassins Creed games came out - they are similar in genre & I can't help but picture the guilds in hoods as the characters from the games. That said, the book is alright. Tense, moves at a good pace, although the plot seems a bit obvious so far. We'll see if I'm right. Seen this series around, want to check it out for myself.

Not since Mario Puzo's Fools Die have I read such a well evolved mystery/life study. This is a masterwork.

This book is very hard to put down. The writing is so well woven with the proper balance of story telling and emotion that it feels you're part of it and can't look away. So far I'm impressed.

WELL im going in for the long haul on this one. I know this one might take some time, but so far it seems quite engrossing. Let's see if it lives up to all the talk it's garnered.

This book reads like a fairy tale - with a creepy undertone that at any time it could all go horribly wrong. Very intriguing book.

Something wrong with the page count here on Goodreads because this book is definitely longer than 528 pages... so.. I still have about 100 pages left, LOL.
