Okay… chapter 9 was intense and that may be the mark that just fully locked me in with this

Jiminy AND his cricket… Hanif Abdurraqib’s writing is just sooooo gorgeous. I am emotional while reading this for multiple reasons but I need to always say about this (what I have heard others who have finished it say):

Some of the stats they’re calling out in this are absolutely mind-boggling. This book is going to likely enrage *me* about how people allow that little “ - R “ after someone’s name on the ballots to drive their voting without a single care for what the individual may create (and destroy) locally and on a wider scale.

Kind of cackling at myself that I put off reading this for so long. Everyone is right: this book is THAT freaking good. Wow. Like… for REAL: wow.
