Andrew Dittmar is starting Thank You For Your Servitude: Donald Trump's Washington and the Price of Submission
MR. LEIBOVICH

I just started your book and reached the part about Marco Rubio's dick joke. "The college kids loved it!"

NO. Most of the studio in that gym were not there out of support for Rubio. They did not "love" his dick joke. Many found his presence on campus REPULSIVE. They were just curious at to why he was on our campus.

Signed:

A student who PROTESTED that rally and then watched it elsewhere on campus.

Andrew Dittmar is starting Karen's Two Families (Baby-Sitters Little Sister, #48)
Okay, do we ever get a clear idea of the nature of Watson and Lisa's divorce? The custody arrangement always seemed bizarrely skewed, and at times it's sounded like there was acrimony between the two families. Yet here it seems things change easily?

I have spent this entire book just hoping that this adorable friendship between these two boys isn't somehow damaged.

Andrew Dittmar is starting When the Tea Party Came to Town: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives' Most Combative, Dysfunctional, and Infuriating Term in Modern History
I'm at the section talking about the Tea Party on "radical Islamic terrorism" and I gotta say, based on reading this (and the decade of public discourse since), I am very convinced that the greatest danger to America is not "radical Islamic terror" but rather white, Christian, Republican men. (And I say that as a white Christian man.)

8 May 2022 - why the heck does every single one of Seeb Cooley's smiles have to be described as "sleepy"? This book is so frustrating.

Andrew Dittmar is starting That Thing about Bollywood
I'm a little over halfway through and I'm extremely frustrated with several characters and kind of want to shake sense into them.

Andrew Dittmar is starting Generation Misfits
About halfway done, but a few observations:

- the struggles Millie has with school are damning, when it comes to unspoken expectations that can trip up students. (Speaking as a teacher who probably was everyone but Mrs. Seo at one point.)

- I love these characters. I especially love Rainbow and Ashley.

- I am completely over Millie's parents. Probably unfairly, but like... come on.

I'm only on about page 12 and the content is fine so far but I'm struck by how poorly this book was edited.

Andrew Dittmar is 30% done with Madam Speaker: Nancy Pelosi and the Lessons of Power
Torn so far. On the one hand, I'm deeply impressed with the level of research into Pelosi's genealogy and family background, including an interview with her husband Paul.

That said, there are certain events that seem to be unnecessarily repeated, and the organization makes for an occasionally confusing timeline. Only a third of the way through, but it feels like an editor rushed this one.

I am almost impressed with how much I hate Zachary Grey. Four books across two separate L'Engle series and... what a truly sucky character.

There is a character named Jimmy Fallon.

This is 1997, so I guess it makes sense.

It appears that I am all-in in reliving my literary childhood. I've read 9 Madeleine L'Engle books this week, and restarted both this and the Boxcar Children series. I'm all in
