The pastor listens with a good heart, and yet the bias and racism are dripping in every criticism. It makes sense historically, but is frustrating to listen to.

First she keeps going on and on about the stupid connection being fake, then she starts this pity party, and relies on the most sus person ever and continuously lies about what he’s doing and the fact she killed an Arum using a shit ton of power!!! And now she gets herself in trouble for not listening AGAIN and ruins the plan.

Miss Kristen you can’t keep spelling out everything they think, then repeating multiple times. We get!
I’m a quarter in and already every fact in the book has been mentioned at least three times.

This is already a thousand times better than Beach Read. The MMC is fully fleshed out. We actually get to see the relationship between them grow and why they both need it and need this romance. Also the side characters are being drawn into the story and not just used as anchors for the “small town” trope. I’m fully invested and enjoying it.
