This is like when I watched the soap opera passions when I was in my 20s. Like … wtf was (am) I thinking?? But I can’t stop.

This series has, unfortunately, been a disappointment. I was so looking forward to it and it instead it feels … weak. I’m struggling to see where the high rating is coming from. There are so many other superior YA series out there with lower ratings. I’m going to finish it and the third but this might be the most disappointment I’ve felt in a book in a long time.

I don’t know if I’ve disliked characters more than Petra and Peter. I hope they are miserable for all eternity.

So far this book is ridiculously campy and cheesy. That is not a criticism.

I like how the author is writing Crier’s growing feelings for Ayla. The narrator for the audio has an annoying voice. And Storme pissed me off. Idk what I think of this book.

Things are getting … interesting. I’m still more invested in Olive than the adults.

I GET IT: Lara’s hot. FFS. Let’s move on, people. I need to see her skills more. So far she’s skipped poison and snuck through water by a guard. I’m not impressed yet. I keep being told she’s a super skilled assassin type person but I haven’t seen it. Also, the male narrator in the audio is very bad.

Nate: honey what’s wrong? How can I make you happy?
Helen: I want to live in the country m

Helen: ugh. I’m so annoyed with Nate. And I’m not happy.
Me: Helen, I hate you.

So … things aren’t going well for me. There’s a lot of telling and not showing. I do want to know if there’s a ghost, so I guess I’ll keep going.

Why has the CW not optioned this for a series?! The banter is delightful. It’s clear the two main characters are pretty. It has everything a CW series could ask for!! I would watch the shit out of this.

Giving it another shot since so many students love it. Maybe I need to keep going in the series this time.

I just don’t know about this. Am I YA’d out? Would I have liked this book more if I had read it 8 years ago? Saba isn’t distinguishable between other YA heroines I’ve read in the last 15+ years. She might have been if she wasn’t making stupid decisions about Jack. She doesn’t even KNOW HIM and she risks her life for him??

I’m so confused (in a good way — for now)

It has taken me a long time to get through this book so far. I waffle between being super annoyed with Tolle and super blown away by his insights. I think it's a book I just need to sit down and tell myself to finish in order to appreciate it more. When I stop reading after I get annoyed then it's harder to pick back up.

I need to finish this book but if I do that means I'll have left this world forever. I'm savoring each page but I bet the librarian wants it back ....

I finally got this book after being on hold since July. Maybe it was anticipation that's ruining it but ... IDK. I was expecting more romance and less sex. I get that's the premise, but I guess I thought this would be more "The Rosie Project" and less soft erotica. I'll keep going for now because Stella is interesting, but I may not be in the right "mood" for this now and may have to come back to it later.
