Probably putting this down. I’m finding the characters exasperating, and the story is boring me. This might be a case of just finding a book at the wrong time.

Man, I can’t stand this Jakob dude.

I’ve noticed from about midway through, the word composition has become rather basic and too hasty. I’d like for it to slow down and give the reader more depth, like the first book did.

So imaginative. The art is rocket.

Still liking it. Wish it had a glossary! Bennett’s setting is complex.

Quite gripping. The characters are all very intriguing, and the author has built an incredibly vivid backdrop. I’m into it.

I am loving this book.

I adore DiCamillo’s writing style. She is a master storyteller.

Truly a cozy fantasy novel.

Enjoying so far.

I’m enjoying the hell out of this. I really am. The lore is deep. The intrigue is tense. The battles are brutal. The characters are real.

Such great characters.

Most of the time, I like Aren, but sometimes he frustrates the hell out of me. He and Fen being so dumb and insecure about their feelings for each other has gone on way too long and is rather tropey, so I don’t mind her moving on. Also, Cade…what the heck, man? Are you for real, dude?! Oh, and the book needs more Grub. More Grub, I says.
