Jason Comely is starting Dove & the Dao: Dao De Jing for Christians
I did a quick translation of my book into Polish using Deepl (amazing tool). So far, there's only an English version, but perhaps someday I'll do a proper translation. But for now, I look forward to reading this with fresh eyes and in a different language!

Starting from scratch. As of today, I'm reading my first book of 2024.

Not much in the way of payoff so far. Is "mindsight" simply mindfulness + neuroplasticity or is there something more to it?

Jason Comely is 71% done with Moby Dick: The Whale
I don't enjoy reading about the slaughtering of whales, or about a whale's anatomy. And there are many digressions in the book and they often fail to interest me. Debating whether or not I should finish it.

Amazed at how good the commentary is. Nyman knows his stuff!

Reading this a second time, but taking it slow to savour the prose and build a playlist of artists I'm unfamiliar with.

Jason Comely is on page 60 of 322 of Whom Say Ye That I Am? Lessons from the Jesus of Nazareth
Really good so far - so good I may need to re-adjust my ratings for other books about Christ.

Also skillful use of the apocrypha and versions of the Bible other than the KJV.

Jason Comely is 60% done with Strangers Drowning: Grappling with Impossible Idealism, Drastic Choices, and the Overpowering Urge to Help
I can see why this is such a polarizing book (just look at the ratings). When reading about the relentlessly heroic efforts of people in this book, one can't help but re-evaluate their own efforts to relieve suffering in the world.

It's certainly got me thinking.

I love the concept but I don't see any practical application to this. I'll give this a try at another time.

This book can't be rushed. It should be savoured. Miller's take on grace is epic, and his psychoanalysis of Jacob and Sharem should not be missed.

The most important book I've ever read on the mind and meditation. I seem to have plateaued somewhere before stage six but will continue to read through the book.
