The threads are pulling together into patterns.

Snuff is an interesting protagonist, as he deftly weaves these disparate threads together with the assistance of Graymalk (cat) Nightwind (owl) and some others. Some kind of hint is on for some major event that’s in the offing. Exactly what it’s about is unclear, but the participants are thinly veiled characters from various fictional tales. Curious to delve deeper as the days wear on.

After many years of wanting to, I finally picked up a copy. Since each chapter is a day in October, I’ve resolved to read one chapter each day. The chapters are short which makes it something of a blessing and a curse. An interesting tale so far…

I really like this series and appreciate Ennis’s push for research and historical accuracy.

Is it one haunting or one spirit controlling many? A clash between science and spiritualism. This remains an interesting read and I’m greatly enjoying it.

An interesting read so far. Everyone involved in the investigation of Hell House believes in the “supernormal” but there is disagreement on the existence of individual personalities versus amorphous and residual psychic / kinetic energy. Science versus faith…

Kind of reads like an old school ‘The Twilight Zone’ episode. Not sure what to make of it yet, but the story is starting to grow on me.

The vampire plague is spreading and there are few willing to acknowledge, much less combat this pernicious threat. It’s interesting how easily the vampires are able to sway most to blithely accept becoming one of them. Seducing them with promises of immortality and power.

It’s amazing how quickly things fall apart in ‘Salem’s Lot. And how people confronted by what “can’t be” are stymied in their efforts to confront what is clearly happening before their eyes. And there is the vampire’s greatest strength, yes? The fact that humanity believes him to be a myth. Will logic, reason and science be enough to win the day? We shall see…

I love the exchanges between Matt and Ben in the immediate aftermath of Mike Ryerson’s death. Rational minds attempting to grappling with what they “know” to be irrational. Glad I added this to my spooky season reading list.

Things are moving apace and the good citizens of ‘Salem’s Lot, some of them at least, are starting to become aware that something isn’t quite right. That there’s some looming presence afoot, something as disquieting as it is vague.

Getting to know the good folks of Salem’s Lot along with the general lay of the land. Love that King introduces us to his cast, in Chapter 3, by going through the course of a typical day from morning until night. He even includes little time stamps for guidance along the way. A great way to provide exposition without it feeling like exposition.

The work that inspired one of my FAVORITE films! Looking forward to comparing the two. Strong start so far…

The pace of this novel moves at a break neck speed and fills you with the same sense of desperation and disorientation as the story’s protagonist Abby. An interesting literary device, to be sure.

A fun and fast read so far. Loaded with nostalgia for those that grew up in the 80’s and 90’s. The author paints an interesting picture of Charleston, South Carolina.

An interesting treatise on rethinking human sexuality in terms of what is natural versus what has been taught to as “normal”.

A deeply personal account about a man on the fringes of a society that changed in ways spiritually and literally around him, while remaining largely enigmatic, even to those that “knew” him.

Not bad, so far. Shaping up to be an interesting heist story. We’ll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Brief and to the point. Might at least cause a science denier to start questioning their hard held beliefs.

‘The Vampyre’ by John Polidori, was an interesting read. Apparently adapted from a fragment of an unfinished novel by Lord Byron, which itself was inspired by a writing challenge involving Mary Shelley. The language is sometimes stilted, particularly at the beginning, however, the writing improves apace. It’s not hard to discern its influence on much of the vampire fiction to follow it.

Interesting to see Nolan and Abe team up on a mission for the Coalition of Planets.
