OK, so the constant, multiple POV flashbacks are giving me whiplash.

A little slow to get into but I did enjoy the first 1000 pages overall. Story is starting to drag, seems repetitive, not holding my interest. I think the H might have a secret that will be sprung on the reader at the end. Or maybe, his character is truly what he appears to be - an American in communist Russia.

My GR friends rave about this book. Unfortunately, I'm finding it slow moving and boring at times. I get that H is a "mountain man" but why can't he speak in complete sentences? I don't have a problem with the insta-relationships but the H and h have only known each other for a few days, haven't slept together and it's already assumed she'll give up her law practice in England to live with H in Small Town, CO. Huh?

I jinxed it! I was talking about how much I liked this book. Then, BOOM! It went from interesting sci-fi to an army of insect people. Also h has 3 different love interests. Not menage. Just different guys she's into sexually and emotionally. So DNF at least for now.

So I went from LOVING this book to whaaaaaaaaat? It's dnf for now.

Well, once again I find myself reading a "dark" romance that has nothing dark about it. The story is okay but I find myself putting it down frequently to do something else.

Nope. Couldn't do it. Maybe later. Maybe not.

B-O-R-I-N-G.... I seriously thought about dnf-ing this book but I'm so close to finishing it.

So far there is nothing dark or erotic about this book. It's written from the POVs of multiple characters and, to make it more annoying, they jump back and forth through time.

It's also pretty obvious what the heroine's "big" secret is already.

Not quite sure what all of the bad reviews were about. There was one incident of sexual abuse which was not at all graphic. Another incident of physical abuse, while disturbing, wasn't especially more gruesome than other depictions of abuse that I've read.

Onward...

A little disappointed that H is now depicted as a total manwhore, who shacks up with anything with a vagina. I don't mind cheating in certain circumstances but this destroys what little love connection I was feeling between H and h in the first book. Some of you may think it's okay because he believes he'll never see her again...but it's the middle of the book so you know he will.

No romance yet, but lots of gore, family secrets and a few attempted rapes. Also, the heroine has been drugged almost half the time (for her own good, of course.) /s

I moved this to the top of my reading list based solely on all the negative, preachy, author-bashing, politically-oriented comments and reviews. It never ceases to amaze me how many people are offended by FICTION and the actions of FICTIONAL characters.
